Garuda Indonesia reports 100 per cent occupancy for Aceh umrah flights

Banda Aceh (ANTARA) - Garuda Indonesia’s Aceh representative office has stated that the occupancy rate for umrah pilgrim flights from Sultan Iskandar Muda (SIM) International Airport to King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Saudi Arabia reached 100 per cent for the June to August 2026 period.

“Alhamdulillah, the occupancy rate for umrah flights in Aceh reached 100 per cent until August, and for the September to October 2026 period the average occupancy has already reached 85 per cent,” said Garuda Indonesia Banda Aceh General Manager Jufriandi in Blang Bintang on Wednesday.

He noted that the total number of umrah pilgrims who have been dispatched so far, since direct umrah flights from Banda Aceh to Saudi Arabia began, amounts to 3,270 people.

He said that on Wednesday (26/8), Garuda Indonesia again flew 360 umrah pilgrims from Aceh directly to Saudi Arabia.

“This is the 9th umrah flight since the commencement of direct flights on 29 June 2026,” he said.

He said the opening of the direct route from Banda Aceh to Jeddah was inseparable from the high level of interest among the people of Serambi Mekkah in performing the umrah pilgrimage.

“We hope that all umrah travel agents and pilgrims from Aceh can make use of the direct flight service, because it has proven to be more comfortable and the costs are also more competitive,” he said.

He added that by utilising the direct service, all parties can carry out monitoring and ensure that pilgrims receive maximum service.

Jufriandi said that for umrah pilgrim departures, Garuda Indonesia uses an A330-900 aircraft with a capacity of 360 passengers in an all-economy class configuration, with serial number PK-GHH.

The aircraft dispatching the umrah pilgrims operates under flight numbers GA970 BTJ-JED and GA971 JED-BTJ.
