Garuda Indonesia launches Singapore tour package
JAKARTA (JP): The country's flag carrier, Garuda Indonesia, launched here yesterday another tour package to increase the load factor on its international routes.
After launching tour packages to Hong Kong and Perth in April and to Australia last week, Garuda introduced a Singapore tour package to lure more Indonesians.
Garuda's general manager for Jakarta, Iwan H. Susilo, said that the new package, valid from Aug. 24 to March 31, 1996, is being arranged in cooperation with the Singapore Tourism Promotion Board.
The Singapore tour package includes a round-trip economy class air ticket for the Jakarta-Singapore-Jakarta or Jakarta-Batam- Singapore-Jakarta routes, two nights of accommodation at one of 18 hotels of a standard class to five stars, daily breakfast, airport transfers and a full-day unlimited travel pass on the Singapore Trolley or admission to a recreational park. There are several prices, ranging from US$277 to $445 per person, for the package depending on the hotels.
Iwan said that Garuda is also offering another special package which enables visitors and their families to have their annual medical check-ups at special low rates while visiting Singapore.
The medical package, priced at $577 per person, offers three medical facilities to choose from, including Raffles SurgiCentre, Mount Elizabeth and the Japanese Clinic. Many middle-upper Indonesians have long chosen to go to Singapore for medical examinations.
Like the Hong Kong package, the Singapore packages offer travel insurance for passengers.
Iwan said that Garuda has been selling 100 tour packages to Hong Kong per month.(icn)
