PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (GIAA) has responded to reports of a Rp200 million ticket price for the Palangkaraya-Jakarta route, denying that it ever set such a fare for the service.

According to reports, Garuda Indonesia’s Director of Commercial Affairs, Reza Aulia Halim, investigated the viral reports concerning the extraordinarily high ticket price on the Palangkaraya-Jakarta route. He stated that the price was being offered by a foreign online travel agent (OTA).

“There is a foreign OTA with extraordinary pricing. In fact, last night the Palangkaraya to Jakarta Rp200 million price went viral on Garuda as well,” Reza said during a press conference at the Ministry of Tourism in Central Jakarta on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.

The OTA in question is now under investigation. However, Reza emphasised that Garuda Indonesia never set a fare as high as Rp200 million for the route.

“Because this is not actually our partner, but it went viral even though such a price never existed,” he said.

He expressed hope that the matter could be mitigated through monitoring of OTAs. Reza also called on OTAs to comply with regulations in order to protect consumers and airlines.

“So that colleagues are all disciplined in this respect, without harming passengers or airlines or the OTA itself,” he concluded.
