Garuda Indonesia and Citilink airlines are set to adjust their plane ticket prices following the sharp rise in avtur tariffs. “Garuda Indonesia will make a proportional and measured adjustment to ticket prices, while upholding principles of prudence, transparency, and compliance with regulatory requirements,” said Garuda Indonesia’s President Director, Glenny Kairupan, in an official statement on Wednesday (8/4/2026). “Citilink will adjust ticket prices in a measured manner, taking into account various aspects, including the company’s operational sustainability, public purchasing power, and regulatory provisions,” said Darsito. This ticket price adjustment comes after the avtur price increase effective from early April 2026. Avtur prices were recorded at around Rp 29,518 per litre in Thailand and Rp 25,326 per litre in the Philippines. In Indonesia, the avtur price at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Banten was around Rp 23,551 per litre at the start of April 2026. Previously, the Ministry of Transportation had granted permission for domestic airlines to raise the additional fuel cost (fuel surcharge) by up to 38% for commercial domestic air transport. Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi stated that this policy was implemented alongside the avtur price hike triggered by global geopolitical dynamics, including the US-Israel conflict against Iran. “In setting the fuel surcharge, we have coordinated with all airlines operating in Indonesia, particularly domestic ones. Thus, the increase has been set at 38%,” Dudy said during a press conference at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs on Monday (6/4/2026), as quoted on Wednesday (8/4/2026). Darsito said Citilink would adjust several flight schedules and frequencies to ensure operations remain effective. Similarly, Garuda Indonesia will review frequencies and schedules on several routes as part of efforts to maintain capacity productivity and operational sustainability.
