Jakarta (ANTARA) - Fathina Almahira Sakhi, a student at the Garuda Elite Transformation School in SMAN 10 Fajar Harapan, Aceh, has successfully obtained Letters of Acceptance (LoAs) from eight top universities around the world.

In a statement in Jakarta on Saturday, Fathina mentioned that this achievement was partly due to intensive guidance starting from November 2023 at the school.

“I truly felt prepared for studying abroad. I’m grateful for the opportunity to learn from this programme,” she said.

“Because of the thorough preparation and support from excellent teachers. Alhamdulillah, we were able to meet the required prerequisites,” she added.

Responding to this, the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Wamendiktisaintek), Stella Christie, highlighted the capabilities of Indonesian students who have not yet gained international access and recognition due to lack of exposure and guidance.

Therefore, Deputy Minister Stella expressed appreciation to all teachers and educational personnel who have supported and provided intensive guidance, enabling the students to secure LoAs.

“We open the access, but of course, we can’t do it alone. Our efforts might only account for about 30 percent; 70 percent comes from the students themselves,” she said.

Deputy Minister Stella reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding Indonesian students’ access to the world’s best universities through the Garuda Elite School Programme.

She emphasised that the Garuda Elite Transformation Programme is designed to nurture students to enter the world’s top universities.

Deputy Minister Stella assessed that this success is not merely due to a short-term improvement in academic abilities, but the result of synergy between guidance strategies, student profile strengthening, and global access opening.

“Before joining the Garuda Transformation School, only one student from Fajar Harapan was accepted into a Top 100 World University. This year, after receiving the Garuda Transformation programme, 14 students have achieved it,” said Stella Christie.
