Garuda Bridge Enhances Inter-Regional Connectivity in Bekasi Regency
The Bekasi Regency Government, together with Kodim 0509, has officially started the construction of the Garuda Bridge by laying the first stone in Kedungjaya Village, Babelan Subdistrict, on Monday (30/3).
“Since the initial inauguration of this programme by the President three weeks ago, the Garuda Bridge has now been constructed at several locations in Bekasi Regency, thanks to the hard work of TNI AD soldiers,” said Acting Regent of Bekasi Asep Surya Atmaja, quoted from the regency government’s website on Tuesday (31/3).
He added that the construction of this bridge is a strategic step to enhance inter-regional connectivity in Bekasi Regency, thereby facilitating greater mobility for the community.
The construction of this 6-metre-long suspension bridge will connect Villa Gading Harapan 3 Housing with Mutiara Gading City in Kedungjaya Village, while also shortening the travel distance for residents who previously had to detour more than 4 kilometres.
“Alhamdulillah, we are still able to attend and carry out the laying of the first stone for the bridge construction at this location. With the presence of this bridge, the community no longer needs to take a long detour. This serves as a solution for community access that has been hindered until now,” he stated.
Asep acknowledged that the construction of the Garuda Bridge is part of President Prabowo Subianto’s idea to improve inter-regional connectivity while strengthening social relations among the community.
“This bridge not only connects regions but also connects people. This is a form of the government’s attention to the community’s access needs,” added the Acting Regent.
According to him, Bekasi Regency, with its vast area, still requires many connecting bridges, given the importance of this infrastructure, which is directly felt by the community.
“Bekasi Regency is vast, and it turns out there are still areas that need suspension bridges. We will continue to push for such constructions because the benefits are directly felt by the community,” he said.
Currently, continued Asep, around five bridge sites have been realised in Bekasi Regency from President Prabowo’s programme. This number is certain to increase according to community needs.
“There are approximately five bridge sites that have been built in Bekasi Regency. This will certainly be further encouraged,” he said.
Dandim 0509/Bekasi Regency Lieutenant Colonel Inf Michael Ronald Simbolon stated that the construction of this bridge is a follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto’s directives, which position infrastructure as a means of uniting the community.
Nationally, the bridge construction programme has been running in various regions with a significant number in a relatively short time. For Bekasi Regency itself, there are currently around five sites that have been realised.
He said that the construction of this bridge is expected to have a broad impact, both in terms of accessibility and improving the community’s economy.
“What is hoped for is that inter-community relations will improve and development can be felt together. This requires collaboration from all parties,” he said.
The Garuda Bridge programme is a manifestation of the TNI’s commitment to supporting the acceleration of national development and strengthening inter-regional connectivity.
