Garment trader killed

JAKARTA (JP): A garment trader has been stabbed to death by a relative who was accused of stealing Rp 60,000 (US$25.53) of the trader's money.

City Police Spokesman Lt. Col. Iman Haryatna said that the victim, Burhan Samuli, accused his relative, Ikbal, of stealing Rp 60,000 from his wallet while he was sleeping on Thursday night.

"Ikbal was angry and then stabbed Burhan in the neck and stomach," he said.

Iman said before the killing, the two men had become drunk after a visit to a stall near the Burhan's home on Jl. Semper Barat, Cilincing district, in North Jakarta.

Burhan who then passed out, was surprised when he found there was no money in his wallet.

Ikbal who was angry for being accused of stealing the money then stabbed Burhan. Burhan died instantly at the scene of the crime.

According to Burhan's uncle, Samone, Burhan would have used the money to buy some clothes. (jun)
