Garbageman rapes eight-year-old girl

KENDARI, Southeast Sulawesi: A temporarily employed official at
the Kendari sanitary office in Southeast Sulawesi has been
detained by local police for raping an eight-year-old school
girl.

Chief the Mandonga police subprecinct First Insp. Edwin H.
said on Saturday the accused, identified only by his initials as
BB, 30, had two wives and did not deny the charges against him.

The attack took place on May 21 at the house of La Bani, the
suspect's friend, on Jl. Sultan Hasanuddin in Benu Benua,
Kendari, Edwin said.

He said the victim, named only by her initials WN, an
elementary school student in Kendari, was visited by Wa Naana,
another of BB's friends, who asked her to meet the suspect for an
unspecified reason at a garbage truck.

BB later took the victim to La Bani's house, where she was
told to stay put until he returned from his job, Edwin said.

The suspect appeared in the late evening and directly asked
the victim to sleep with him in the same house, he added.

"At the time, the child tried to reject the offer, but was
turned powerless. Therefore, she was forced to surrender her
virginity to the suspect," he said. --Antara
