Garbage in Cidurian River

Garbage in Cidurian River

From Suara Karya

In the 1980s the Cidurian River in Bandung, West Java, often
overflowed and flooded houses when heavy rains fell. This was
caused by, among other things, the fact that the riverbed was not
deep enough to hold the extra rain water and garbage piled up in
the river so as to hinder the water flow.

Then in the 1990s the river was dredged and widened. The
situation improved much and no floods happened during the rainy
season. I hope that the people who live near the river do not
throw their garbage into the river and therefore avoid flooding
in the future.
