Garbage fee collection
In the first ten months of this year, garbage fee collections in West Jakarta reached only Rp 365 million (US$168,000), far below the target of Rp 1.5 billion, an official said.
Zainal Husein, head of the mayoralty's sanitary office, told the Antara news agency that the fee collection, 20 percent of which goes to the City Revenue Office, reached only Rp 400 million last year as compared to the target of Rp 700 million.
He said garbage collection rates per month are Rp 500 each family, Rp 6,500 for shops, and Rp 5,000 per cubic meter for hotels, restaurants and factories.
The West Jakarta mayoralty currently operates 108 garbage trucks. The City Sanitation Office provides 12 additional trucks and private companies another 38 trucks, he said. (22)
