Garbage exports

Garbage exports

From Bisnis Indonesia

The Bantar Gebang garbage dumping site east of Jakarta
receives a daily average of 20,000 tons of organic waste from the
Greater Jakarta area.

This situation brings forth complex problems but at the same
time opens business opportunities.

From the research I have conducted since 1986 organic garbage
can be turned into products of high-economy value such as active
carbon, industrial waste filters, substances to promote plant
growth, fungicide, organic insecticide, stress reducing medicine,
electromagnetic anti-wave panels which are very good for
special/military installation protection.

Organic waste can also be transformed into no-fume and
odorless solid fuel with 7,500 K calorie/kilogram.

The solid fuel is very suitable for steam-powered generating
plants, metal melting industries, room heaters, so that it is
much in demand in subtropical countries like Japan, Korea and
Taiwan.

The investment for constructing a solid fuel industry with a
production capacity of 10,000 tons/year is estimated at Rp 10
billion.

It can be concluded from the above that if garbage is
processed by the right technology, it can open good business
opportunities, increase regional revenues and the state's foreign
exchange revenues.
