Garbage along main road

The open garbage dump on Jl. Antara in Pasar Baru, Central
Jakarta, is a sore spot in this strategic shopping area visited
by many people from Jakarta, the provinces and abroad.

Apart from the dump being constantly full of garbage, Jl.
Antara is also lined with carts heavily laden with foul smelling
garbage.

Garbage collection by the municipality and the private company
PT SOR is irregular. Sometimes, for days on end nothing is done
to transport the garbage.

The Jakarta city administration should take steps to clean Jl.
Antara for reasons of community health and as a contribution to
the tourism ministry's efforts to promote order, safety and
cleanliness.

The inhabitants have duly reported the situation to the
various administrations at neighborhood and district level
(RT/RW/Lurah/Camat) but there has been no action so far.
