Gao happy in her adopted homeland

DOHA: Gao Jing Yi is one of a plethora of Chinese-born players
representing another flag at the team table tennis world
championships here this week.

Born in Tianjin she was approached by Ireland back in 1995 and
now, nine years on, she is happily settled in her adopted country
with a house near Belfast and a thick northern Irish accent to
show for it.

"I was the first Chinese player to move to Ireland," said Gao
on the opening day of the championships on Monday. --AFP
