Jakarta, VIVA – Ganjar Pranowo emphasised the importance of volunteers’ role in responding to increasingly complex environmental issues, particularly waste, which he views as a trigger for various disasters.

He expressed this during the Ganjarist volunteers’ halal bihalal event, held to strengthen ties and social solidarity, especially in addressing environmental and community matters.

The event took place in Jakarta and was attended by Ganjarist General Chairman Kris Tjantra, General Treasurer Laila Nirmala, and executives from the Jabodetabek region.

“Waste issues must be a collective concern. I ask Ganjarist volunteers to be sensitive to environmental problems, especially waste, which causes environmental and social disasters,” Ganjar said, quoted on Tuesday, 14 April 2026.

In addition to environmental issues, Ganjar highlighted the importance of volunteers’ presence in society, particularly during disasters or calamities.

“Volunteers must be present to help communities in need, especially those affected by disasters and misfortunes,” he stated.

On the other hand, Ganjarist General Chairman Kris Tjantra stressed that the halal bihalal event did not discuss long-term political agendas, including the 2029 presidential election. The main focus, he said, was on strengthening the organisation and the social role of volunteers.

“We are not yet focused on 2029 political matters, but we are still concentrating on consolidation to build a more structured and directed organisation, and how we can best help the community,” Kris Tjantra remarked.

Nevertheless, he assured that the solidarity of Ganjarist volunteers remains intact and they share the same vision moving forward.

“Ganjarist is still solid; this machine just needs to be activated. Ganjarist itself wants to encourage Ganjar to return (as a presidential candidate), but we will see the dynamics later because this is very dynamic,” he added.

Through this event, Ganjarist reaffirmed its commitment to remaining present in the community, not only in a political context but also through concrete actions in social and environmental fields.
