Gang of Thieves Burgle Petrol Station Safe in Bekasi, Stealing IDR 130 Million in Sales Revenue
BEKASI – A gang of thieves broke into a petrol station safe containing sales revenue at SPBU 34.17604, located in RT 001/002, Kebalen Village, Babelan District, Bekasi Regency, on Tuesday, 10 March 2026 at approximately 03:30 Western Indonesia Time.
As a result of the incident, petrol station sales revenue estimated to reach hundreds of millions of rupiah was reported stolen.
“The estimated amount taken was around IDR 100 million to IDR 130 million. That was the sales revenue in the safe. There was nothing else,” said Babelan Police Chief Commissioner Wito when confirmed by Kompas.com on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.
“The CCTV was damaged by them, the DVR as well. They also brought a toy gun, a sword, and a crowbar to pry open the safe,” he said.
Police suspect the perpetrators entered the petrol station area through the rear by climbing the fence using a ladder.
“The perpetrators jumped and climbed the fence,” said Wito.
Meanwhile, Metro Bekasi Police Chief Senior Commissioner Sumarni stated that discovery of the incident began with a public report through the Indonesian National Police 110 Call Centre at 03:20 Western Indonesia Time.
Based on preliminary investigation results, the perpetrators are suspected of entering the petrol station area by damaging the door.
“They (the perpetrators) entered the petrol station rest area by damaging the door and threatened victims using sharp weapons and long iron bars,” said Sumarni.
After successfully entering, the perpetrators then went to the room where several petrol station employees were resting.
Another victim with initials B (49) also suffered violence in the form of kicks and punches.
“Whilst other victims namely A (24), M (44), and H (53) had their heads covered with blankets and were bound using cable, duct tape, and raffia rope,” said Sumarni.
To date, police continue investigations to uncover the identities of the perpetrators.
“There has already been a report filed. And we have already checked the crime scene. Since then, we have also been conducting investigations to solve the case,” said Wito.
