JAKARTA: Tangerang Police revealed on Tuesday that they had arrested a gang of thieves, who specialized in robbing schools and companies of their computer's Central Processing Units (CPUs).

"We picked up each of the five suspects from their respective homes on Monday," Tangerang Police chief of detectives Adj. Comr. Kustanto was quoted as saying by Tempointeraktif.

One of the suspects, Nofiardi, is a taxi driver, whose taxi was used in the gang's operations. The other four have been identified as Iwansyah, Sukardi, Rahmat, and the buyer, Maman Suparman of Jakarta

The suspects admitted to stealing 49 CPUs, in 11 operations this year, from schools and offices in Teluk Naga, Pakuhaji, Sepatan, Mauk, Sewan and Tanah Tinggi districts.

In their last robbery attempt at state junior high school SLTPN 1 Kosambi, the janitor, who was hiding, saw the license plate police number of the taxi, which had been loaded with 12 of the school's CPUs. -- JP
