GAM's mass graves and NGOs

From Suara Karya

Military forces stationed in Aceh have succeeded in unearthing
mass graves believed to be buried victims of atrocities committed
by the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) in a steep valley in Syamtalira
Bayu, North Aceh.

This finding, based on local people's information, serves as
important evidence for consideration by citizens who are
concerned about the value of truth and honesty. I deem it
necessary to point this out because I am sure some non-government
organizations (NGOs) will respond skeptically to this discovery.

The case would be different if the graves were found by the
NGOs, who would promptly blame Indonesian soldiers for the mass
murders and raise it as a legal and human rights issue.

Most NGOs, claiming to uphold law and human rights, in fact
confuse the public. With the discovery of mass graves dug by the
separatist rebels, it will be interesting to see what comments
the NGOs make.

Meanwhile, we should be alert against the presence of NGOs
with hidden agendas to assist GAM in its struggle, while
outwardly campaigning for law enforcement and the exercise of
human rights.
