Gaming Industry Speaks Out on Alleged IGRS Komdigi Data Leak
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The alleged breach in the Indonesia Game Rating System (IGRS) has drawn attention from industry players. The Indonesian Game Association (AGI) views this incident as a momentum to improve the system while strengthening communication between the government and the industry. “I, from the Indonesian Game Association, with this incident, we are also opening the door for communication so that this system can run well and ensure that the regulations made are in favour of Indonesian game industry players,” said Shafiq, at Ganara Art FX Sudirman Jakarta, on Friday (17/4/2026). “For the issues that are already in society now, we are certainly fixing them little by little with industry players,” he continued. Shafiq hopes that the existence of IGRS does not become an obstacle to the growth of the national gaming industry, but rather drives the advancement of the ecosystem. “And we also hope that the Indonesian gaming industry can advance again with this, not becoming a restriction. So we ensure that everything we make is based on the Indonesian gaming industry,” he said. He stated that open communication is key to ensuring the IGRS system can operate optimally in the future without harming industry players. “With this incident, we are opening communication so that this system can run well and ensure that the regulations made are in favour of the Indonesian gaming industry,” said Reza. According to him, system improvements need to be done gradually by involving all stakeholders so that the results are comprehensive and can be implemented in the field. Industry players hope that the evaluation of IGRS not only focuses on technical fixes but also considers its impact on the national gaming industry climate. The leak is suspected to originate from a security vulnerability in the Indonesia Game Rating System (IGRS), which allowed private materials for the classification process to be accessed by the public.
