Jakarta (ANTARA) - Players in the gaming industry are confident that the evaluation currently being conducted on the Indonesia Game Rating System (IGRS) will make its implementation better and remain supportive of the Indonesian gaming ecosystem.

President of the Indonesian Game Association (AGI) Shafiq Husein stated that several aspects needing evaluation in the IGRS implementation are being addressed by industry players together with other stakeholders.

“We hope the Indonesian gaming industry can advance further with this (IGRS), rather than it becoming a restriction. We ensure that everything we create is in favour of the Indonesian gaming industry,” Shafiq said during a press conference in South Jakarta on Friday.

Meanwhile, CEO of Gamecom Team Reza Febri Nanda encouraged aspiring industry players not to fear entering the field as game developers or creative industry participants.

“We will fix everything, we will participate. The main point (of the IGRS implementation) is to make it better and it will not become an obstacle; hopefully, there will continue to be aspiring creative industry players in the future,” Reza said.

CEO and co-founder of Arsanesia Adam Ardisasmita stated that his side is overseeing the IGRS evaluation to ensure the process runs transparently.

“We are updating (providing new information) to friends in the ecosystem about what is happening, what needs to be improved, and we ensure all this fits with the needs of our industry friends,” Adam said.

It is known that the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kemkomdigi) has postponed the implementation of age-based game classification, the Indonesia Game Rating System (IGRS), until the investigation and evaluation of the system is fully completed.

“While waiting for all investigation and evaluation processes to finish, we have decided to temporarily postpone the overall IGRS rating process. I emphasise once again that this postponement is only temporary,” said Director of Digital Ecosystem Development at Kemkomdigi Sonny Hendra Sudaryana.

This postponement is being carried out to ensure that the IGRS system going forward runs well and is more credible, so it can be trusted by the public and industry players.

Sonny explained that since the issue of errors in the IGRS rating display on the Steam distribution platform came under public spotlight, Kemkomdigi has formed a special team to investigate the matter thoroughly.
