Games at Mal Puri Indah

Games at Mal Puri Indah

From Kompas

We visited Mal Puri Indah with our children on Sunday June 15.
After shopping, our children went to play in the mall's games
section on the ground floor (in front of the information
counter). At about 4.30 p.m. after paying for tickets at Rp 2,000
each, I lifted my baby, while my 8-year-old climbed by himself,
onto the platform of a ride.

We were in for a jarring surprise because the operator
suddenly activated the game before the children were safely in
place. I screamed because my unstable position nearly sent me
tumbling, while my oldest child shrieked in fear. The operator
switched the ride off.

There was no apology after we told the operator that we were
not ready yet. On the contrary, he defended himself with the
excuse that the operating switch got stuck. After some
observation, we noted that the operator could not be bothered to
collect the tickets from the children. He did not move from his
place and stayed put near the switch of the ride. Only when the
platform turned in position to where he stood, did he reach out
for the tickets.

The same was happening at the neighboring game, a train ride.

I am appealing to the management of Mal Puri Indah to take the
children's safety into consideration. It is not enough for
parents to personally watching over their children without the
cooperation of game operators. Visitors should exercise more
caution when they want to have a go at electric games.
