The Free Aceh Movement (GAM) was reported to have robbed
people in four villages in Pidie regency, Aceh, of their
belongings, particularly food supplies, the other week, forcing
them to take refuge in safer areas nearby.

The robbery by GAM indicates that the food supplies of this
separatist group are running out, due to the military and police
siege of its rural bases. Therefore, the integrated operation
should be continued, to overwhelm GAM totally and bring local
villagers back home.

This operation, launched by the martial law authorities in
Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam (NAD), appears to be bearing fruit, and
GAM is increasingly becoming cornered. With the weakening of GAM,
restoration of the NAD administration and a return to normal for
the public can be realized straight away.
