GAM hands in weapons ahead of schedule

BANDA ACEH, Aceh (Antara): Aceh rebels have handed in five weapons to the Indonesian Military just days after the signing of the peace agreement between the government and the Free Aceh Movement (GAM).

Iskandar Muda (Aceh) Military Commander Maj. Gen. Supiadin revealed that three weapons were collected from rebels in Bener Meriah and two others in Tapaktuan, South Aceh.

A total of 14 rebels have also reported themselves to the security authorities. Supiadin said the military would hand over the weapons and also names of the rebels to the monitoring team.
