GAM beyond point of no return
GAM beyond point of no return
From Koran Tempo
Acehnese refugees have returned to their homes after a month
or two, but now their sufferings because of the raging war have
multiplied. Back home, they have found that most of their
belongings and livestock have been plundered by the Free Aceh
Movement (GAM).
What GAM has done to these ordinary Acehnese should open their
eyes to the fact that supporting this separatist movement means
disaster and loss of hope. It also means that GAM is truly
cornered by the Indonesian military/police and has to steal to
survive.
In this context, the Acehnese must work hand-in-hand with the
Indonesian military/police, especially in arranging night
watches, so that security and order throughout Aceh will be
maintained.
