Gallery of post-disaster rescue operations on China-Nepal border

The disaster management agency of the Xizang Autonomous Region stated that flash floods and landslides that struck Gyirong Port near the China-Nepal border have killed five people and left 558 others missing as of Friday (28/8) at 3.00 p.m. local time. As of 10.00 a.m. on Friday, 681 fire and rescue personnel along with 113 vehicles had arrived in the remote mountainous border area, while 6,612 units of rescue equipment and logistical supplies had been sent to Gyirong, according to China’s National Fire and Rescue Administration. A large quantity of daily necessities, such as highland barley, rice, flour, drinking water, instant noodles, tents, folding beds, thick blankets, mattresses, blankets, and raincoats, have been dispatched to Gyirong, the regional emergency management department explained.
