Galaxy S27 Ultra Expected to Undergo Major Redesign and Battery Overhaul

Samsung is believed to be planning a major overhaul for the flagship model of its next-generation S series, the Galaxy S27 Ultra, specifically regarding its design and battery. This information comes from South Korean informants, as reported by Gizmochina on Tuesday.

According to these sources, the Galaxy S27 Ultra will undergo substantial changes. On the camera front, Samsung may upgrade its rear camera sensors and redesign the camera layout on the back panel. This complements previous rumours suggesting that Samsung might remove the 3x telephoto lens from the S27 Ultra, indicating the device may feature only three rear cameras.

Regarding the battery, the Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to feature a larger capacity while remaining lighter in weight. However, this may affect the device’s thickness, which is likely to remain similar to the current Ultra model. Additionally, it is noted that Samsung will likely retain the same display panel technology used in the current generation due to production costs. While display performance may be enhanced, the focus will likely be on software optimisation rather than introducing new panel technology.

Beyond the Galaxy S27 Ultra, the tech leaker also indicated that a model named the Galaxy S27 Pro may arrive next year. This model would be smaller than the Ultra but would not compromise on performance. With an estimated size of approximately 6.4 inches, it would be more compact than the Ultra, which is known for its large and wide screen. It is believed this device could fill the gap between the existing Plus and Ultra models. As these are early leaks, the accuracy remains unconfirmed, but if realised, these changes could make Samsung’s next generation of flagship smartphones even more compelling.
