Galaxy Data Center Secures US$250 Million Strategic Initial Funding to Build Next-Generation Green Computing Infrastructure
Galaxy Data Center (“Galaxy DC”) has secured US$250 million in initial strategic funding from one of the world’s leading investment firms. Galaxy DC will utilise the funding to develop its data centre platform in Southeast Asia, accelerate project execution, and build high-density computing infrastructure to meet the growing demands of the artificial intelligence (AI) era.
Galaxy DC has made Singapore its regional base to accelerate the development of gigawatt (GW)-scale AI data centre (AIDC) complexes across several Southeast Asian countries. Supported by funding schemes and partnerships within the industrial ecosystem, Galaxy DC provides hyperscale AIDC infrastructure designed to meet the specific needs of each customer.
According to Galaxy DC, the surge in AI computing demand is transforming the role of data centres from mere infrastructure assets into a vital part of an ecosystem that connects energy strategy, engineering capability, operational reliability, and customer growth. To this end, Galaxy DC continues to strengthen its capabilities in GW-scale AIDC development, spanning technology adaptation, power availability, green energy utilisation, speed of implementation in local markets, and low-carbon operations. Galaxy DC also plans to expand strategic partnerships with investors through various funding models to reinforce its position in Southeast Asia as a global centre for sustainable digital infrastructure.
Arthur Yang, Co-founder and CEO of Galaxy DC, said: “This funding further strengthens the capacity of Galaxy DC’s regional platform. The needs of AI and cloud computing service customers are changing very rapidly. The customer focus is now not only on capacity, but also on certainty in construction, energy efficiency, operational reliability, and the flexibility to grow in the long term. Galaxy DC will continue to rely on the latest technology and sustainable energy solutions to build GW-scale green computing infrastructure ready to support future needs.”
A representative of the investment firm participating in the funding added: “Galaxy DC has real potential in Southeast Asia and possesses unique technical capabilities. We see long-term prospects in Galaxy DC’s data centre platform, which prioritises high density, energy efficiency, and scalability. We want to support Galaxy DC in accelerating the development of digital infrastructure in this region.”
