Gaining Strength, DAMRI Serves Over 31,000 Passengers in 2026 Eid Return Flow to Jakarta
Based on preliminary data as of 23 March 2026, DAMRI has recorded an increase in the Eid al-Fitr 1447 H/2026 return flow movement towards Jakarta. During the period of 23–29 March 2026, DAMRI served return journeys from several major routes, with an estimated number of participants reaching around 31,423 passengers.
The return flow movement was dominated by passengers from Sumatra and Central Java regions. The Lampung–Jakarta route was the busiest, with a number reaching 18,121 people or more than half of the total return flow. In addition, the Yogyakarta–Jakarta route recorded 6,183 passengers, followed by Purwokerto–Jakarta with 4,480 passengers.
Meanwhile, several other routes such as Surabaya/Malang, Banyuwangi, and Denpasar also contributed to the return flow movement towards Jakarta and its surroundings.
The dominance of the Lampung route indicates high cross-island return flow mobility, which also relies on national ferry connectivity, especially on the Merak–Bakauheni corridor.
“Along with the increasing return flow, we have recorded quite significant passenger movement from several regions, particularly from Lampung, Yogyakarta, and Purwokerto to Jakarta. We continue to monitor conditions on the main corridors, including ferry routes, and make operational adjustments so that passenger journeys remain safe and smooth,” said Head of Corporate Communication DAMRI, P. Septian Adri S, quoted from a press release received on Tuesday (24/3).
To support the smooth return flow, DAMRI is making dynamic operational adjustments, including optimising the fleet on routes with high demand levels as well as monitoring traffic conditions and congestion points.
DAMRI also urges the public who are still planning to travel on the return flow to plan their departure well and follow the instructions of officers on the ground to maintain smoothness and comfort during the journey.
The movement figures are still dynamic and have the potential to increase as the Eid return flow period progresses.
“In supporting the smooth mobility of the public during the 2026 Eid return flow period, DAMRI is committed to continuing to provide the best service to every passenger and making safety the top priority,” he emphasised.
