Gaikindo Optimistic GIIAS 2026 Visitor Numbers Will Surpass Last Year
The Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo) is optimistic that total visitor numbers for the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026 will surpass last year’s figures. Anton Kumonty, Gaikindo’s Daily Chairman and Chairman of the Exhibition and Conference Organiser, stated this optimism on Saturday evening during the ‘Exhibitor Night GIIAS 2026’ at ICE BSD, Tangerang. ‘Seeing the public’s enthusiasm up to Saturday afternoon, Gaikindo is confident that this year’s visitor count will exceed last year’s. This is clear evidence that public enthusiasm for automotive industry developments continues to grow annually,’ Anton said. He also emphasised that Gaikindo prioritises the safety, comfort, and best experience for all visitors at the exhibition venue. GIIAS 2026, which opened on 30 July, features more than 65 global automotive brands, including 43 passenger vehicle brands, 7 commercial vehicle brands, and 5 coachbuilder brands, supported by over 150 industry supplier brands. Anton noted that the exhibition proves the strong commitment and synergy in advancing the national automotive industry. This year’s event is particularly special with the participation of 10 new vehicle brands for the first time, reinforcing GIIAS’s position as a strategic international-scale automotive platform. The exhibition has also become a stage for innovation, hosting the launch of 37 new vehicles, ranging from Indonesian premieres to Asian premieres, alongside the introduction of future concept vehicles. ‘All these achievements are a source of pride for us, where participating global brands compete to introduce their latest design and technology innovations for the first time at GIIAS,’ Anton added. This industry optimism is supported by macroeconomic data. During his visit to GIIAS 2026, Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa revealed that car sales grew by 32.9 percent year-on-year in June 2026, while motorcycle sales grew by 1.1 percent year-on-year.
