Gaga Introduces Indonesian Jasmine Tea-Based Series
The Thai beverage brand, Gaga, has introduced the Jawara Tea Series, which utilises Indonesian jasmine tea as its primary ingredient. This drink range has been specifically developed for the Indonesian market amidst the growth of the modern tea and coffee industry in Southeast Asia.
Gaga is part of the Minor Food Group Indonesia. The Jawara series consists of several variants, including Jawara Pure Tea, Jawara Milk Tea, Jawara Pandan Gula Aren Milk Tea, and Jawara Ube Pudding. Indonesia remains one of the primary markets in Southeast Asia for modern tea and coffee outlets, with the market value for this category projected to reach US$3.51 billion by 202<0xC2>5.
Amidst the competition in the modern tea beverage category, Gaga identified an opportunity to develop products using ingredients that align more closely with Indonesian consumer tastes. Having previously been known for its Thai tea products, Gaga is now using Indonesian jasmine tea as the basis for the Jawara Tea Series. The tea is sourced from the Java region and has been developed into several modern beverage blends.
The tea blends for this series were developed in collaboration with tea sommelier Ratna Soemantri. The composition combines roasted tea from the Dewata Tea Plantation in Ciwidey, West Java, jasmine tea from Cirebon, West Java, and gardenia aroma. This blend produces a tea character with roasted flavours and floral nuances, while maintaining the jasmine tea character that serves as its main ingredient.
Country Director of Minor Food Group Indonesia, Cristina Hernandez, stated that the development of Jawara was driven by observing the habits of Indonesian consumers in enjoying tea. “We see an opportunity to elevate something very close to the Indonesian people, namely jasmine tea, and package it in a new expression through Gaga,” said Cristina, as quoted from a press release on Wednesday (30/9/2026).
According to her, Jawara uses Indonesian jasmine tea sourced from Java. The development of this product is expected to introduce the character of local tea to a wider consumer base.
In addition to Jawara Pure Tea, which presents a simpler tea character, Gaga offers variants such as Milk Tea, Pandan Gula Aren Milk Tea, and Ube Pudding. These variants blend the tea character with flavours of milk, palm sugar, pandan, and ube.
Cristina noted that the development of the series was also intended to showcase the diverse characters of Indonesian jasmine tea and adapt them to current beverage consumption patterns. “Tea is no longer limited to a specific moment. Tea can be part of a productive day, accompany creative moments, refresh after exercise, or simply be enjoyed with friends and loved ones,” she said.
The Jawara Tea Series is now available at GAGA outlets across Indonesia. Drink prices range from Rp 25,000 to Rp 42,000, depending on the variant and size.
