Gadog-Puncak Railway Line Development Studied to Tackle Congestion
The Bogor Regency Government in West Java is studying the construction of a railway line from the Gadog area to Puncak as an effort to reduce traffic congestion while improving accessibility to the tourist region. Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto stated in Cibinong on Tuesday that the rail-based transport development plan was discussed with the Ministry of Transportation, PT KAI (Persero), and relevant regional agencies at the Bogor Regent’s Pendopo in Cibinong on Monday, 22 June 2026. According to him, the rail line from Gadog to the Puncak Rest Area was one of the plans discussed during the meeting. The line is designed to support access to the Puncak tourist area, which has frequently experienced severe congestion. Furthermore, he added, the government also discussed the development of the Jasinga-Tenjo and Parung Panjang-Jasinga railway corridors to strengthen new economic zones and increase community mobility in the western part of Bogor Regency. Rudy said the development of rail-based transport is expected to deliver a more integrated, efficient, and sustainable transport system. ‘I ask for the prayers and support of the entire Bogor Regency community so that every stage of planning through to implementation can proceed smoothly and provide the greatest possible benefit to the community,’ said Rudy. He stressed that all plans for railway network development will be supported by comprehensive studies to ensure implementation aligns with geographical conditions and community needs. Rudy added that the Bogor Regency Government is also committed to strengthening synergy with the central government and stakeholders to realise a modern transport system that supports sustainable regional development.
