Gadang Barubah Launches Heritage Weekend Market to Support Local SMEs
Gadang Barubah has introduced a new initiative called The Heritage Weekend Market, a weekend pop-up market designed to give local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) an opportunity to showcase their products to the public. The Padang restaurant, owned by Deddy Corbuzier, stated that the programme aims to offer an experience beyond enjoying Minang cuisine, allowing visitors to discover quality local products that celebrate Indonesia’s cultural richness, creativity, and local wisdom. ‘For us, cultural heritage is not only present through the flavours of Minang cuisine, but also through the works of MSME players. Through The Heritage Weekend Market, we want to make Gadang Barubah a meeting space for culinary arts, culture, communities, and the creative economy,’ the restaurant said in a press release. The market is open to MSMEs in both food and beverage and non-food sectors, with priority given to products related to Minang and Sumatran culture. All participants will undergo a curation process by the Gadang Barubah team to ensure product quality and concept alignment. Participating food and beverage tenants are required to sell ready-to-eat products without on-site cooking. The restaurant hopes this initiative will create a supportive ecosystem and strengthen the local economy through sustainable collaboration.
