GAC to Launch PHEV MPV in Indonesia: Features Claimed to Be More Comprehensive
JAKARTA – GAC Indonesia plans to introduce several new models to the domestic market in 2026. Among the products being prepared, two will compete in the Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) segment.
Chief Executive Officer of GAC Indonesia, Andry Ciu, stated that both MPVs will arrive with a seven-passenger configuration. One is positioned in the premium segment and features Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) technology.
“The PHEV model I have already disclosed more information about. Yes, it will be launched, but when and at what price will be announced later. With features that are far more comprehensive than what we showed last year,” said Andry in Central Jakarta recently.
According to GAC Singapore’s official website, the E9 PHEV is a premium vehicle with luxurious design, spacious cabin, and futuristic touches in several areas. This model uses a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) system that combines a 2.0-litre petrol engine with an electric motor.
The combination of both is capable of generating power of up to 373 horsepower with peak torque of 630 Nm. In pure electric mode, the vehicle is claimed to be able to travel a distance of up to 136 kilometres.
Meanwhile, when the petrol engine and electric motor work together, the total travel distance is said to reach 1.032 kilometres without needing to refuel or recharge the battery.
However, its size is still slightly smaller than the Denza D9, which has a length of 5.250 mm, width of 1.960 mm, height of 1.920 mm, and wheelbase of 3.110 mm.
