GAC Reveals Aion V Strategy: CKD Certainty Secures Sales

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Wholesale sales or distribution from the factory to dealers of the Aion V electric SUV reached 238 units in March 2026. This placed it ninth in the national list of best-selling electric cars. Andry Ciu, CEO of GAC Indonesia, stated that consumers are now adopting a more rational approach in selecting vehicles. According to Andry, one of the Aion V’s strengths is that all units sold so far are Completely Knocked Down (CKD) or locally assembled products. “We see that consumers today are increasingly understanding the overall value of electric vehicles,” he said in a written statement on Sunday (18/4/2026). According to Andry, amid the evolving dynamics of competition in the C-SUV electric segment, a close supply chain allows for shorter waiting times. Additionally, amid global dynamics affecting fossil fuel energy prices, consumers are shifting focus from just the initial purchase price to the total cost of ownership. Fluctuations in fuel prices are one factor driving this consideration. As a result, electric vehicles are seen as a more efficient and stable long-term mobility solution. “Amid global energy price uncertainties, we see a shift in consumer mindset towards long-term efficiency,” he said.
