GAC Indonesia Set to Launch New MPV and SUV Models, Alphard Rival on the Horizon?
Jakarta — GAC Indonesia plans to expand its vehicle lineup in the domestic automotive market this year, introducing several new models across the MPV and SUV segments.
Chief Executive Officer Andry Ciu announced that the company will bring a range of new vehicles featuring various engine technology options. “We will continue to introduce new products this year. We will have two MPVs, one medium and one large, and seven-seaters will finally arrive at GAC,” Ciu said at a press event in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (11 March 2026).
The two MPV models will target different market segments: one in the medium category and another in the premium segment with a larger footprint. “Both MPVs will be seven-seaters, one medium and one premium large,” Ciu explained.
In addition to the MPVs, GAC is also preparing two new SUV models for the Indonesian market, bringing the total number of new launches to four vehicles to complement GAC’s product range in the country.
According to Ciu, these models will be offered with various engine technology options, ranging from conventional powerplants to electrified solutions. However, he emphasised that the decision to bring these models to Indonesia will carefully consider pricing factors to remain competitive in the marketplace.
“Hopefully everything goes smoothly, but ultimately if we cannot offer competitive pricing, I may cancel the introduction of these products. However, if pricing is competitive, we will bring them all in,” Ciu stated.
He expressed optimism that the new product launches could be realised in the near term, targeting a debut before the 2026 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show.
One of the models under consideration is believed to be the E9 PHEV, previously displayed during the inauguration ceremony of GAC Aion’s manufacturing facility in Purwakarta, West Java. The MPV could emerge as a strong competitor to the Toyota Alphard and Denza D9.
