GAC Hyptec A800 launched with Huawei ADS and Smart Cockpit
GAC’s Hyptec brand has launched the Hyptec A800, a mid-to-large electric sedan, incorporating Huawei’s advanced technology. Reported by CarNewsChina on Thursday local time, the model was officially introduced to the domestic market with an starting price ranging from about $27,500 to $43,400 (approximately Rp464 million to Rp733 million). Hyptec is a sub-brand under GAC Group, and the A800 is positioned as a high-tech sedan that combines advanced driving-assistance systems with the latest smart cockpit. The A800 inherits GAC Hyptec’s ‘Mountain and Sea Architecture’ design philosophy. Frameless doors contribute to a cleaner, visually transparent look. The vehicle measures 5,130 mm in length, 1,966 mm in width and 1,500 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,020 mm. Inside, the A800 features a circular cockpit design, equipped with a fully digital 12.3-inch instrument panel, a 27-inch Windshield Head-Up Display (W-HUD), and a 15.6-inch central control screen. The rear seating layout for the four-seat version uses seats that can be transformed into a ‘2+1’ configuration, allowing flexible switching between four-seat and five-seat layouts.
Under the bonnet, the Hyptec A800 is powered by a hybrid drive system comprising a 1.5T engine and an electric motor. Depending on configuration, the electric motor delivers 272 hp (single rear-mounted motor) or 598 hp (three-motor configuration for the top-spec model), enabling 0-100 km/h in under 4 seconds for the latter. The vehicle comes with a 35.03 kWh battery pack, providing a WLTC pure-electric range of 178 km or 163 km depending on the variant. The A800 also features a double-wishbone air suspension combined with SDC electromagnetic suspension. This system not only enables maneuvers like ‘compass turns’ but also enhances safety by preventing tyre blowouts at high speeds. In the event of a tyre blowout at speeds up to 120 km/h, the system can apply a counter-yaw moment to correct the vehicle’s posture, ensuring stability and control.
For driver assistance, the new vehicle is equipped with Huawei’s Qiankun ADS V4.1 driving-assistance system. The top trim also features Huawei’s latest 896-line LiDAR, a mass-produced LiDAR with the highest spec in the world, sharing the same hardware configuration used on the luxury HIMA Maextro S800 sedan.
