G20 Interfaith Forum and MHM to Hold Summit in 2026 in the United States
Jakarta - The G20 Interfaith Forum Association (IF20) together with the Majelis Hukama Muslimin (MHM) will hold a High-Level Conference (Summit) in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States, from 15 to 17 October 2026.
This high-level meeting will bring together religious leaders, interfaith scholars, civil society representatives, and policymakers from various countries under the theme ‘Interfaith Engagement for Policy Impact’.
“Religious perspectives are an integral component and always present in these challenges, encompassing 84 percent of the world’s population that adheres to various religions and beliefs,” said MHM Secretary-General Counsellor Mohamed Abdelsalam in his statement in Jakarta on Thursday.
The forum coincides with the United States’ G20 presidency and precedes the G20 Leaders’ Summit on 14-15 December 2026 in Miami.
This forum serves as a parallel and complementary track to that summit, allowing religious voices to be heard at the heart of discussions shaping the global agenda.
The plenary sessions and commission meetings in this forum will address three main current themes, including Economic Growth for the Common Good, Energy Security for a Sustainable Future.
Second, AI and the Future of Humanity. Third, Interfaith Engagement and the UN’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
“Other topics include the global food crisis, mental health, child issues, refugees and forced displacement,” said Abdelsalam.
Counsellor Abdelsalam explained that the Majelis Hukama Muslimin also previously co-organised the 2025 G20 Interfaith Forum (IF20) held in Cape Town, South Africa, from 10 to 14 August 2025. At that time, the theme raised was “Ubuntu in Action: Focusing on Marginalized Communities”.
During the 2025 IF20, MHM reaffirmed its willingness to strengthen its presence and influence across Africa through innovative initiatives focused on peacebuilding, empowering local religious actors, and expanding partnerships with regional institutions through dialogue, tolerance, and coexistence.
