WU Hub Coworking Space has officially launched Futurepreneur Lab 2026, a Collaborative Acceleration and Market Validation programme designed to bridge the gap between research innovation and market needs. The launch took place at WU Hub Sabang, Central Jakarta, as a strategic move to strengthen the early-stage startup ecosystem in Indonesia.

The programme addresses the phenomenon of many student innovations stalling at the development stage due to limited market access. At the same time, investors are becoming more selective and require clear evidence of market traction before committing capital. Futurepreneur Lab 2026 aims to ensure these innovations do not remain mere ideas but transform into commercially validated products.

Investor and Founder of WU Hub, Charles Lee, emphasised that the programme’s vision extends beyond merely pursuing high valuations. ‘We want to build a generation of entrepreneurs capable of creating real solutions to global challenges and generating a sustainable positive impact on the Indonesian economy,’ he stated.

A key breakthrough introduced in the programme is Katalyst, a platform for public validation and crowdfunding. It allows participants to test market interest directly through digital campaigns and demand simulations. This approach means startup assessment will rely not only on presentations to judges but on real responses from the public.

The programme has received full support from Khong Guan as a strategic partner. Tenne Gunawan, Marketing Manager of Khong Guan, stated that this collaboration is a tangible implementation of the company’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles in empowering local talent. ‘We believe the best investment for the future is in young people who dare to innovate. Futurepreneur Lab aligns with our efforts to support new ideas capable of addressing future challenges,’ she said.

Echoing this sentiment, Sumarny Elisabeth Manurung, VP of Investment at SPIL Ventures, added that validation is key to investor confidence. ‘Investors seek proof that a solution is truly needed by customers. This programme helps young startups validate their assumptions before moving into the growth phase,’ she explained.

The programme series will culminate in an Investment Day scheduled for October 2026, where founders will present the market validation results they have gathered throughout the programme to a panel of judges and global investors.

Through synergy between the education sector, industry, and the government (Komdigi), Futurepreneur Lab 2026 is expected to serve as a catalyst for the birth of new innovators capable of propelling the Indonesian economy onto the global stage with sustainable solutions.
