Future policing

City planning should be projected to the future. If we carry
out development programs without accounting for cultural
aspirations and the nation's integrity, we will deeply lament the
way we executed the programs in 50 years.

The need to develop the five areas of Jakarta is urgent. It
will trigger movements of population, not from outside regions
into the city but from the center to the outer regions. More
policing will become a necessity.

Integrated, fast and efficient police services should be made
available. In 2020 we will 20 times the present police force, one
policeman should protect 20 people; today the ratio is one for
400.

The police face a great challenge so careful consideration is
required in transforming the police into a formidable law
enforcing agent.
