JAKARTA - The issue of the global energy crisis and fluctuations in fuel oil (BBM) prices continues to loom over the national automotive industry, including the commercial vehicle sector.

In response to this situation, PT Krama Yudha Tiga Berlian Motors (KTB), the official distributor of Mitsubishi Fuso commercial vehicles in Indonesia, is beginning to map out various future possibilities.

To date, the backbone of logistics transportation in Indonesia is still dominated by internal combustion engines.

The reliability of diesel engines in transporting heavy loads is the main reason why conventional units remain the favourite among transport business owners.

This is an important note, given that the availability and price stability of diesel significantly affect the operational costs of its loyal customers.

According to Aji, if this energy uncertainty continues to reach a critical level, the shift to alternative technology will no longer be merely an option, but a necessity.

This relates to the long-term efficiency that must be calculated by industry players.

“So, if in the long term this (energy crisis) continues to happen, there is certainly a possibility that it will become an alternative,” said Aji, to reporters, when met at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Commercial Vehicle Expo (Giicomvec) 2026, in Jakarta, on Wednesday (8/4/2026).

“But, if in the short term the problem can be resolved, meaning the causes of the price increases or fuel shortages can be fixed, the situation might remain the same as it is now. The demand for conventional vehicles will still be high,” Aji added.

This statement indicates that Mitsubishi Fuso remains realistic in viewing the Indonesian market.

Although the electrification trend is starting to gain momentum, demand for diesel-engine trucks is predicted to remain stable as long as supporting infrastructure and fuel prices are within reasonable limits.

At this Giicomvec 2026 event, Fuso itself continues to display its flagship product line that has been proven in various terrains.

This Japanese company is committed to continuously monitoring market dynamics to ensure the most effective transportation solutions for business owners in the country.

Fuso itself has the eCanter, an electric truck that has been presented at several automotive exhibitions. Its price can reach billions of rupiah.
