BNI’s President Director Putrama Wahju Setyawan met with Sister Natalia Situmorang, the treasurer of the Credit Union at Aek Nabara Parish, today, Tuesday (20/4). The meeting discussed the Rp28 billion in church savings and loan cooperative funds that were previously embezzled by Andi Hakim Febriansyah, the former Head of the BNI Aek Nabara Branch Office.

On that occasion, BNI President Director Putrama Wahju Setyawan emphasised that the church’s funds would be returned in full as early as Wednesday, 22 April 2026.

“We have found a solution that we will immediately finalise together with the Aek Nabara Parish Credit Union, so that as early as tomorrow, 22 April 2026, we can carry out the return of the Aek Nabara Parish Credit Union funds. Full. In line with what has been conveyed by the Aek Nabara Parish CU,” he stated to the media on Tuesday (21/4/2026).

He added that this case has prompted the banking sector to intensify financial literacy efforts to prevent similar incidents in the future.

“This is a shared lesson for us, both from the bank and customers, and earlier we agreed with Sister Natalia from Aek Nabara Parish that we will prioritise financial literacy for all customers,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Sister Natalia also expressed her appreciation to those supporting the meeting, including Deputy Speaker of the DPR Sufmi Dasco Ahmad.

“Thank you also to Mr Dasco for receiving us here. Thank you to the BNI President Director who contacted us yesterday so that we could arrive in Jakarta this morning.”

She hopes the resolution of this matter proceeds smoothly and that they soon receive the return of the funds.

“We hope everything goes well. May this all be a source of blessing for us all. There is good news because the congregation will also rejoice in receiving their rights. As soon as possible,” she stressed.

For information, since the case was first uncovered in February 2026, BNI has actively taken steps towards resolution, including handing over the initial fund repayment to the Aek Nabara Parish CU as a demonstration of good faith and responsibility to customers.

BNI will continue to monitor this process until it is fully resolved, while upholding principles of prudence, transparency, and consumer protection in accordance with applicable regulations. This step is also part of BNI’s commitment to continuously strengthen internal oversight systems and enhance public education to prevent similar incidents in the future.

With the support of the ongoing legal process and measured resolution efforts, BNI is optimistic that the entire process can proceed well, providing certainty and justice for all parties.
