Jakarta, Indonesia — Facing increased congestion during the Eid holiday exodus, the government and toll road operators have prepared several functional toll routes to help alleviate traffic density.

One such route is the Southern Jakarta–Cikampek (Japek) II toll road, which will be operational for vehicles travelling from Bandung towards Jakarta.

The functional route, scheduled to open from 15 March 2026, is expected to distribute the convergence of traffic from the Trans Java highway and Cipularang toll road before reaching the congestion-prone area at kilometre 66 of the Jakarta–Cikampek toll road.

Rivan Achmad Purwantono, Chief Executive of PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk, stated that this route has been prepared as an important instrument to manage vehicle distribution during the Eid return period. “The aim is to disperse traffic flows from Trans Java and Cipularang before reaching kilometre 66,” he explained to Kompas.com on 9 March 2026.

Rivan noted that whilst the toll road’s construction is not entirely complete, it is functionally nearly ready to support traffic flow. Vehicles from Bandung via the Sadang area can be directed onto the Southern Japek II toll road segment from Sadang towards Kutanegara and Setu.

Along this route, drivers have several toll gate exit options according to their destination. With multiple exit points, vehicles from Bandung can disperse directly across various areas in Bekasi and surroundings without accumulating on the main Jakarta–Cikampek toll road.

However, drivers must understand that this route retains functional toll status and therefore has several restrictions. Time restrictions apply because certain safety equipment, including street lighting (PJU) and permanent road markings, have not been fully installed.

The temporarily functional Southern Japek II toll road is exclusively designated for Class I vehicles—private cars excluding buses. Nevertheless, operators have prepared supporting facilities for road users, including a functional rest area at kilometre 18 equipped with portable toilets, prayer rooms, and modular fuel stations.
