Function of DPR/MPR

From Merdeka

Lately, I have been following the debates concerning the
respective abilities of military and civilian figures to lead our
country, the composition and hierarchy of the members of the
House of Representatives (DPR) and the People's Consultative
Assembly (MPR), and the issue of national repentance.

I am very saddened that a learned national figure has called
on the country to repent to God in the face of the many disasters
that this country has faced recently. In my opinion, instead of
national repentance, it would be better to collect funds for the
SEA Games and for the alleviation of the suffering of our
brethren who have been hit by forest fires and famine. This
collection must, of course, be voluntary and not compulsory.

The actual composition of the DPR/MPR is not the issue. The
important thing is that the members must use their position to
channel the people's aspirations with a view to the free trade
era soon to take place. Why? Because the role of the DPR/MPR is
very decisive for the nation.

The importance of the House's function is to use its
supervision, budget and initiative authority effectively in
accordance with the people's aspirations.
