A complete video of the visitation and socialisation activities conducted by the Rectorate of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta within the Triguna and SDIP Pamulang environment has circulated on social media. The video provides a different picture from a number of narratives that previously spread on social media.

When confirmed by the media, UIN Jakarta’s legal counsel, Alwani, who finally viewed the video, stated that the recording represents a complete depiction of what actually happened, but the facts were distorted. Alwani said the circulating video refutes various accusations of a raid, mass mobilisation by the campus, and allegations of violence causing serious injuries, which do not match the facts on the ground.

He noted that the full video actually shows the true chronology. The visitation and socialisation were carried out openly and officially by the UIN Rectorate and the Ministry of Religious Affairs. “The video clearly straightens out a number of circulating reports so that the public obtains a complete and balanced picture,” Alwani stated.

According to Alwani, the accusation that the rectorate carried out a raid is baseless. He explained that the Rector of UIN Jakarta and his entourage came in good faith to conduct socialisation and a visit related to the status of educational units under UIN Jakarta. In the video recording, he said, the rectorate group is seen entering the location politely and even greeting Ilham Aufa, the former Chairman of the Foundation. However, the reception they received was not conducive.

“In the video, an order delivered by Ilham Aufa is clearly heard, with the words, ‘My order is not to open it,’ which was then followed by the blocking of access,” Alwani stated. He also denied the narrative claiming the campus deployed a mob. Based on field facts, dozens of people actually blocked the socialisation activity and closed the school gate access. “These people are not part of the academic community nor parties with a direct interest in the socialisation. They obstructed the official activity carried out by the Rectorate,” he said.
