Full Rules for Using UGM’s Wisdom Park, Including Fees
Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has confirmed that fees apply to activities at Wisdom Park. The full rules are set out below.
The issue of Wisdom Park fees came to public attention after a visitor’s complaint went viral, claiming they had been charged Rp129,500 per hour while spending time at the park. UGM spokesperson I Made Andi Arsana said the incident was an opportunity to explain the rules.
“Regarding a visitor’s complaint about a Rp129,500 charge for using a mat, which circulated on social media, UGM clarifies that, at the time, Wisdom Park’s management provided information and explained the applicable fees,” he said in a statement on Thursday (15 October 2026).
“The management did not charge the person concerned, either at the time or afterwards,” he added.
He nevertheless confirmed that fees had been set under UGM Rector’s Regulation No. 4 of 2026 on UGM Residence Tariff Standards.
“Activities outside teaching and learning that make specific use of an area or facility must follow the applicable licensing procedures and fee requirements. Sports activities at the Wisdom Park National Sports Hall are subject to the applicable fees,” Made Andi said.
Activities subject to fees
Made Andi said the fees for certain activities take account of the number of participants and the length of time an area is used. Rates also vary according to the type of service and whether users are affiliated with UGM or are external users.
The official Wisdom Park UGM website states that fees apply to activities outside UGM’s three pillars of higher education: education, research and community service.
Management has also set criteria for chargeable activities: they must involve more than five people and take place for more than 30 minutes in designated areas.
“Certain activities aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and supported by Wisdom Park may be considered for a fee exemption,” Made Andi said.
