Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Bank Indonesia (BI) Governor Perry Warjiyo has decided to resign from his position, effective Saturday (25/7/2026). A letter of resignation has been submitted to President Prabowo Subianto. In an official statement from Bank Indonesia, the resignation was made voluntarily due to personal reasons. In accordance with Article 48 paragraph (1) letter (a) of Law No. 23 of 1999 concerning Bank Indonesia, as amended several times, most recently by Law No. 4 of 2026 concerning the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector, the Board of Governors, in a meeting on 26 July 2026, appointed Senior Deputy Governor Destry Damayanti as acting Governor pursuant to Article 50 paragraph (2) of the BI Law. The Board of Governors affirmed its commitment to carrying out its duties and authority to achieve rupiah stability, maintain payment system stability, and help preserve financial system stability in order to support sustainable economic growth, which can create a conducive economic environment for real sector growth and job creation as mandated by the BI Law. In executing these duties and authorities, the Board of Governors will continue to prioritise good and professional institutional governance, and will continue to synergise and coordinate with the government in carrying out their respective mandates.
