Fulfilling PSE Private Scope Registration Obligations, Komdigi Opens Access to Wikipedia
The Wikimedia Foundation has completed the registration process as a Private Scope Electronic System Provider (PSE), enabling the Wikipedia website to be processed for normal access once again.
“Wikimedia Foundation has completed the registration, and we are currently processing the normalisation of Wikipedia access,” said Director General of Digital Space Supervision at Komdigi, Alexander Sabar, in Central Jakarta on Thursday (30/4/2026).
“We appreciate the Wikimedia Foundation’s steps in fulfilling the registration obligations in accordance with the applicable provisions,” he added.
All supervision and law enforcement processes, Alexander stated, are carried out in accordance with procedures and applicable statutory regulations.
“Every electronic system provider is responsible for the services and features operated in Indonesia, so through this registration, there is clarity regarding the responsible party and the coordination mechanism in implementing statutory regulations,” he explained.
In the latest meeting with Komdigi, Alexander said that the Wikimedia Foundation confirmed that it does not represent the global organisation and is a separate entity.
Previously, the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) restricted access to login features on Wikimedia services in Indonesia since 25 February 2026.
The restriction was imposed because the Wikimedia Foundation had not registered as a Private Scope PSE.
This means that users in Indonesia were temporarily unable to log in or create new accounts.
