Fujitsu boosts Asian market
TOKYO (AFP): Japanese computer giant Fujitsu Ltd. plans to
team up with Oracle Corp. of the United States to sell and
install computer systems running Oracle's database software in
Asia, a spokesman said yesterday.
The agreement was reached by Fujitsu and Oracle Systems S.E.
Asia Pacific Ltd., a regional unit of the US software company,
the Fujitsu spokesman said.
Under the plan, Fujitsu will install Oracle programming on its
high-performance small servers for sales in the region, while
Oracle will provide technical support for Fujitsu subsidiaries,
the spokesman said.
The accord covers 12 Asian countries and regions -- Australia,
China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, the
Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Taiwan and
Vietnam, the spokesman said.
The computer technology firms are targeting orders for 1,500-
2,000 systems from the end of the year to March 2001.
