Fuji Bank wins soccer tournament
JAKARTA (JP): Fuji Bank overcame the ING Bearings Indonesia Bank in a penalty shootout to win 3-1 at the inter-bank soccer tournament at the Lebak Bulus stadium, South Jakarta, on Sunday.
Fuji Bank won the tournament after the two teams tied 0-0 in the 30 minute game which was twice extended by 10 minutes.
Fuji Bank took the Challenge Trophy plus a cash prize of Rp 2 million. Second, third and fourth places respectively received Rp 1.5 million, Rp 1 million and Rp 500,000.
Daiwa Perdania Bank won 1-0 against Tat Lee Buana Bank to take third place.
Thirteen banks took part in the inter-bank tournament here, which started on Aug. 7.
The 13 banks include Rabo Bank Indonesia Bank BII Commonwealth, Tat Lee Buana Bank, Indosuez Indonesia Bank, Sanwa Indonesia Bank, Daiwa Perdania Bank, Korea Exchange Bank Danamon, Fuji Bank International, Tokai Lippo Bank, Sumitomo Niaga Bank, China Trust Tamara Bank, IBJ Indonesia Bank and ING Bearings Indonesia
Organizer Marbun told The Jakarta Post that the purpose behind the tournament was to strengthen ties between the participating banks.
"We want to show that there is harmony between the banks. This is the third time we have conducted the tournament (since 1997) and we hope to hold it annually," Marbun said.
The tournament was officially closed by Christian Ortoli of the Indosuez Indonesia Bank. (lnt)
