Fugitive shot in Cengkareng

JAKARTA (JP): Police officers yesterday fatally wounded a fugitive and arrested several suspects during a raid in Cengkareng, West Jakarta.

The site, a slaughter house on Jl. Peternakan II, is believed to be the hiding place of gang members.

During the raid, Gi Jin alias Riswan, 27, allegedly a member of the Lukman Leonardo gang, was shot in the chest.

City Police Spokesman Lt. Col. E. Aritonang later confirmed Riswan's death and the arrest of his accomplice Maat, alias Iman, who surrendered to the police.

Police had previously apprehended a man identified as Bimbo, alias Naisan, who is now serving a jail sentence at Salemba, Central Jakarta, for a series of burglaries.

"Three other men, believed to be specialists in household burglary, are still at large," Aritonang said. (cst)
