Fugitive shot dead

JAKARTA (JP): An alleged criminal, Kasman, alias Ugan, was shot dead for trying to escape from the police car which was taking him from a nearby redlight district to a police precinct.

The West Jakarta police confirmed yesterday that the 25-year- old man was dead on arrival at the Kramat Jati police hospital in East Jakarta.

Police said that they have hunted Kasman for almost three months for his alleged roles in several murders and robberies. (04)
